How To Play Roulette
The famous game of Roulette features a spinning wheel that may remind you of the Wheel of Fortune that you see on your television sets. The roulette wheel sits in a bowl and spins on an axis. There are specific slotted numbers on the wheel, depending on whether you're playing on an American roulette wheel or a European roulette wheel. All the numbers except 0 or 00 are either red or black and are numbered from 1 to 36 and the left out 0 or 00 are green.
The croupier
At the roulette table, the dealer is known as a croupier who spins the wheel in one direction and rolls the ball around the edge of the wheel in the opposite direction. After the ball's spin begins to retard gradually, no more bets are allowed, and the ball eventually falls into one of the numbered slots. This basically decides the result and in simpler terms, if the ball falls into a slot that matches your bet, you win!
Ways to win
There is no shortage of winning options as there a number of bets available, most of which are pretty much self-explanatory, like red or black or odd or even. As soon as you sit down at a roulette table, initially you'll need to buy chips from the croupier, and roulette chips are almost always different from all other chips in the casino. Having done that, each player is then assigned his or her own color of chips so that the croupier knows who to pay off at the end of each spin. The pay offer rates keep varying as a particular color of a chip might have a different value at any point during the day, depending on the player's buy-in and the Roulette chips cannot be cashed in at the cashier cage for this reason.
Cash out your chips
Make sure that you cash out your roulette chips before leaving the table; if you don't do this, you risk only getting paid the minimum amount for the chips, whether or not that's what you paid for. It may not be intentional as in most of the cases, the croupier has no way of remembering each specific player's denomination once they've left the table and stopped playing, so always cash out when leaving the table.
What is "past posting"?
During betting every player is allowed to bet until the croupier announces, "No more bets" and any more bets after that point are called "past posting", which is the practice of placing a bet at the roulette table after you know what the result of the spin is, and it’s basically illegal. Be careful about this as it’s cheating, and it's not recommended, since in most of the places, cheating at a casino game is seriously illegal and you may to face serious repercussions!
American vs. European Roulette
You can play different versions of this exciting game as well. The European and the American Roulettes are the two key variations of the game, however the odds are much more in favor of the casino in the American roulette version, so wherever possible always choose to play the European version. Although with the European version the casinos have a much lower edge, it’s hardly surprising there have been many betting systems created to try and overcome the house edge!
